In this pattern you will learn the Superduo Duets Cellini spiral technique. Then, create a stylised flower to complete the design.

Materials

Your Superduo Duets Cellini Spiral flower necklace uses the following materials:

  • Superduo Duets
  • Size 11 seed beads in three colours
  • Size 8 seed beads
  • 3mm Firepolish beads in two colours
  • Two hook and eye clasps
  • Your choice of beading thread

You can check the beading supplies department for all these materials. I have given you a comprehensive guide to choosing and using your colouring. So, if you are not already familiar with using SuperDuo Duets, this will really help.

This design will work in any colours. Start by picking your favourite Duet colour and then build the rest of the colour scheme from there.

Although I have used 3mm Firepolish beads, you can substitute these for any 3mm beads. So, use bicones to add a little sparkle. Or, try pearls for an elegant touch. You can even just use size 6 seed beads if you have some in your stash.

Experience and Techniques

The Superduo Duets Cellini Spiral flower necklace uses a mixture of basic bead-weaving techniques. So, you have a little tubular Herringbone, some basic even count Peyote and the main tubular Peyote for your rope. The rope embellishment is added with simple Right Angle Weave.

In the pattern, I have assumed you are familiar with these techniques. But if you do need some extra help, I have free tutorials you can download from this website. You can also find out more about all these techniques in this blog>>

This is an intermediate to advanced level pattern. Partly because of the variety of techniques. Although, I have included clear diagrams and explanations to illustrate all the thread paths. Mostly, I think this is trickier because of the SuperDuo Duet colouring. However, you can also make this design with normal Superduos, so you don’t have to worry about the colouring.

About the SuperDuo Duets Cellini Spiral Flower Necklace

I created this design as part of my work for the Beadsmith Inspiration Squad. So, I decided to experiment with the colouring in the SuperDuo Duets. I wanted to tie the flower into the rope and show off the colouring in two different ways.

The necklace is really a two-in-one style. So, you can wear the rope on its own, or with the flower. The flower conceals the clasp in addition to providing a focal centrepiece.

If you love your seed beads, you’ll enjoy making this necklace.
