Piggy Bead Patterns

This is one of the early Piggy Bead Patterns I developed, exploring how Piggy beads can be used to create a frame around other beads. You will make this necklace is made in two sections. You can adapt the focal section at the front to a Piggy Bead bracelet. It is simple to make.

As you will be working with two-holed beads, I have included very detailed diagrams to show exactly which hole you will be using and which side of the beads to enter and exit. This makes the project a good entry point for working with these shaped beads. If you have never worked with Piggy beads before, you can find a blog about them, along with links to other Piggy bead patterns, here.

Pattern Details

This particular Piggy bead pattern gives you some alternatives for adding different chains and ropes to your necklace. The clasp and rope section shown is described in detail. But you can replace it with another beaded rope of your choice. So if you are a beginner, you can stick with something simple like a spiral and just use a shop-bought clasp. If you wish to make the Peyote rope and clasp shown, you will also learn how to vary the length of the necklace. So you can wear it with different outfits.

This pattern gives you ten pages of instructions including detailed photos and over twenty diagrams. It is suitable for all levels. In addition to the Piggy beads, you will need Superduos, 4mm pearls and size 11 Delicas. You will be using basic bead stringing and Peyote stitch to make this design. I hope you will enjoy making this project and it will inspire you to keep experimenting with Piggy beads. I am adding new Piggy bead patterns to this website as I design them. So keep checking back for more!
