About the Daisy Honeycomb Bracelet

I created this project from the first batch of Honeycomb beads that I was sent by the Beadsmith, as part of my work for the Beadsmith Inspiration Squad. If you read my blog about these beads, you will see that one of the first questions I asked myself was how they would work in some of the traditional beading stitches. For anyone who already knows me, it will come as no surprise that the first stitch I decided to try was Peyote stitch! It turns out that Honeycomb beads work very well in this technique. The conventional ‘up’ bead, ‘down’ bead structure is created very easily using the two holes on the Honeycomb beads and all that was required was a little bit of seed bead embellishment to finish off the edges and the ends of the work. The idea reminded me a little of a path through a garden – the honeycomb beads are a little like stepping stones, so it seemed very natural to edge them with daisies.

This is a great project if you are just starting to work with Honeycomb beads. It has a nice simple thread path and you will only need a couple of strings of beads to make a complete bracelet. I used Miyuki seed beads to create the edging and the clasp, so I would recommend sticking to the same brand if you can. I haven’t tried the design with other brands, so there is a risk that the edging won’t sit quite as well. Even though size 11 seed beads should be a standard size, there is always some differentiation between manufacturers, so if any of you are experimenting with different brands, then do please let me know how you get on!
