The Tila beaded bead pattern teaches you a simple, but stylish bead. So, you can use this in jewellery. I added some crystals to create a pair of earrings.

Materials

Each Tila beaded bead requires the following materials:

  • Tila beads
  • Size 11 Delicas
  • Superduos
  • Your choice of beading thread

You just need to provide a needle and scissors as this is a bead-weaving project.

I haven’t tried this with Tile beads. They are similar to Tilas, but much thicker. So, I suspect the design might not work as well. So, when you are buying your materials, take care that you get the right beads! If you’re not sure of the difference, then check out this blog.

Experience and Techniques

You are going to be using circular Peyote to create the domed ends of these beads. Then a basic thread path links the two ends using the shaped seed beads.

If you feel you might need some extra help with the circular Peyote, grab this free tutorial.

Each bead takes about 15 minutes to make. So, you can have a pair of earrings in no time at all. Or make a few more and string a bracelet or necklace.

About the Tila Beaded Bead Pattern

This is one of my very early design experiments with shaped seed beads. I was still trying to work out what I could do with them.

If you know my work, then you will know how much I love creating three-dimensional projects. So, I was keen to find out whether the shaped seed beads can be used in this way. Of course they can!

You can have a lot of fun trying this design in different colourways. I chose a monochromatic scheme for my beaded beads. Then I added the strongly contrasting red bicones to top and tail the beads when I made the earrings. So take a bit of time and plan a scheme that will really zing. Let me know how you get on!
