This Easter bonnet beaded box is perfect for giving as a gift with a few small treats inside. So, let me tell you how to make it…

Materials

I used size 10 Delicas to make the Easter bonnet beaded box. Then size 11 seed beads to add the floral decoration. The box is about 3″ (8cm) across the base and 1.25″ (3cm) high. The storage space inside is roughly 1″ x 1″ (3cm x 3cm). So, it will hold some mini eggs. Or, if you’re giving it to a beader, how about a small pack of beads?

You can buy the size 10 Delicas here. You will need 30g in your main colour and 10g in your ribbon colour.

Now, if you wish, you can use size 11 Delicas for the box, but you would then need to scale down the seed beads as well. So, if you are doing this, you would use size 15 seed beads for the flowers.

The box will come out significantly smaller, so you might struggle to fit a gift inside.

In addition to the beads, you will need your favourite beading thread. Choose something that will allow you get good tension.

Experience and Techniques

You will be working in circular and tubular Peyote to make the box. So, you should feel happy with these techniques before you start. You will also need to do a small amount of ‘Stitch in the Ditch’.

I used Diamond Peyote to make the flowers and leaves.

Now, these are all basic Peyote techniques, so anyone with some Peyote experience should be able to complete this box. If you don’t yet know any of these techniques, this free course will teach you everything you need. So, you can use that as you make your Easter bonnet.

About the Easter Bonnet Beaded Box Pattern

I have always thought that my beaded cakes looked rather like hats. So, I’ve had it in mind to try making beaded hat boxes for a while. I made the first in the shape of a Leprechaun hat, to celebrate St Patrick’s day. So, after that, I started thinking about other ‘iconic’ hats. Naturally Easter bonnets came to mind.

Now, even though I’ve styled this as an Easter bonnet, you can use it for any occasion. So, it’s a great little gift for anyone who likes fashion accessories. It’s quite a summer-styled pattern. But there is plenty of scope for adding different decoration. So, you can personalise this design.
