About the Twinkies
The Twinkies key ring kit contains delica beads, thread and a key ring, plus the specific assembly instructions for this project. The project uses circular and tubular Peyote stitch. I would recommend it for intermediate to advanced beaders. However, if you are a beginner and feel very confident with Peyote stitch, you should be able to manage this project.
The specific instructions for making the Twinkies are only in Sweet Treats book. So, you will need a copy of the book as well as this kit. You can buy it at a reduced price alongside the kit.
I created several projects using Twinkies, a selection of which you can see in the image in the gallery. For those of you who don’t know, Twinkies are an American cake, made by the company, Hostess Cakes. It looks like a sponge roll, but is filled with cream.
I had to create a design that allowed the centre to show as the cake really doesn’t look like anything much from the outside. So I ended up creating a mixture of whole cakes and part eaten cakes to make this key ring. The book will also give you some more fun projects to do. Twinkies also have a really interesting history, so you can read the story of that in the book too.
If you enjoy making this key ring, then you can find lots more kits for making cakes on this website. I also have some more patterns that are not in the book, but which make cakes. So you might like to try the Key Lime Pie necklace, or the Jammie dodgers.
