About the Swiss Roll
The Swiss roll on a plate kit contains thread and Delica beads in sizes 10 and 11. This pattern is made using circular and tubular Peyote stitch. It is suitable for intermediate to advanced beaders. If you are a beginner and feel like pushing your boundaries, you should be able to make this project, as long as you are familiar with Peyote stitch.
The instructions for the project are in Sweet Treats book. So, you will need a copy of the book as well as the kit. You can buy this alongside the kit, at a reduced price, by selecting from the dropdown menu above. The book includes a chapter covering the beading techniques you will need. However, if you feel you would like some extra help, you can download a free tutorial for circular and tubular Peyote stitch here.
When I created the Swiss roll project I made a few different variations – as you can see from the gallery image. I turned one slice of Swiss roll into a pendant. I also made a chocolate variation that I turned into a Yule log for Christmas. All these variations are included in the book, so once you have tried the full project here, you can try a few other ideas.
The instructions with the kit include instructions on how to make the plate on which the Swiss roll sits. The kit does not include any stuffing for the Swiss roll. You can use something simple like tissue or material scraps. You will also need a piece of card to back the beaded plate – this is not included in the kit. Everything else you need for your project should be included. So, you can get started on your first Sweet Treat immediately. I hope you enjoy it!
