Donut Pendant Details
This kit uses circular and tubular peyote stitch. It is suitable for beaders with some experience of those stitches. The kit comes with a choice of icing colours on the donut, which can be selected from the menu above. You can buy the donut pendant kit on its own, or with the book in any of the available icing colours, so take care to make the correct selection.
When I wrote Sweet Treats book I decided to look at different themes when making my cakes. One of these themes was mixing bead sizes. It took me a long time to create a donut design as I struggled to get the round shape to work. Then, I had a flash of inspiration and realised that this project had to be all about mixing up different sizes of beads.
The design only works with Delica beads because you need the sizes to work precisely. It also uses the slightly less common size 10 bead. So, because of this, some people have struggled to get the beads to make the design. I thought it would be a great idea to put together a kit for the donut pendant to save people having to shop around for all the different beads. If you want to make more than one donut, then you might like to try the plate of donuts kit.
Sweet Treats book does include a great section on beading techniques at the start of the book. If you feel like you might need a bit more practise, then you can download some additional free tutorials from this website. The circular and tubular peyote tutorial can be found here. Just to be clear, the donut pendant kit does not include the instructions. These are only available in Sweet Treats book.
If you have found this page and you want a finished donut pendant, instead of making your own, you can find one to order from me here. It will be custom-made for you and you are able to choose the colouring. If you have any additional questions, please feel free to email me. Happy beading!
