About the Chocolate Dipped Strawberries
This chocolate dipped strawberries bracelet kit contains seed beads, cubes, round beads and 6g of Delicas, plus a memory wire bracelet. I have included Nymo thread. You will also need to buy or own a copy of Sweet Treats book. The recipe card uses the instructions for chocolate dipped strawberries that are available only in my book.
The four-page recipe card gives you detailed instructions for making a large, striped chocolate strawberry. It details exactly how to create a memory wire bracelet. Some experience of Peyote stitch is recommended, but this pattern is not difficult and would be suitable for all levels. You are going to be working in circular and tubular Peyote. There is a chapter covering the techniques in the book. However, if you need more help, you can also find a free tutorial about these techniques here.
The Background Story
A friend suggested I make chocolate dipped strawberries as one of the projects in my book. The suggestion met my design brief for ideas that were immediately recognisable because of their colour or shape. I had in fact made ordinary strawberries before, so it seemed pretty easy to just change colouring part way down in order to add the chocolate dip.
I did this and showed my brother the results, asking for an honest opinion. His honest opinion was that it looked like I had just run out of red beads part way through! So, I knew I needed to tweak the design a little. I experimented with some different brands and sizes of beads. I found that by mixing seed beads and Delicas, I was able to create the effect of the chocolate sitting in a layer on top of the strawberry. So my chocolate dipped strawberries gained the shape dimension that had originally been lacking. How did I do this? Well, you’ll just have to buy the kit or book to find out!
