Wire Wrapped Loop Techniques Sheet

If you are wanting to make your own jewellery, then you will need to learn how to make a wire wrapped loop. You can use this to hold a bead, or several beads, on a head pin or eye pin. Then you can turn this into a simple earring.

You can also use the wire wrapped loop to hold beads on a piece of wire. Then use jump rings or split rings to link several of these to create a necklace or bracelet. The wire wrapped bracelet is a great place to start trying these techniques.

The wire wrapped loop requires round nose pliers and wire cutters. This tutorial shows you the detailed step-by-step photos, with clear descriptions for the technique. As with many basic jewellery making techniques, wire wrapped loops are fairly simple in essence. However, it can be tricky to manipulate the wire into a neat loop.

Once you have understood the technique, the best tip I can give is to just keep practising. Every wire wrapped loop that you try will be an improvement on the last one. Until you eventually master the technique with confidence.

What to try next

I believe that the basic beading techniques are the fundamentals to all beadwork and you should be able to learn them for free. These techniques are not copyrighted. So I wanted to make sure that everyone has access to well-thought out materials for learning these building blocks.

If you find my style of teaching and writing works for you, then I hope you will return. I will send you a discount coupon. Then you can use this to sample some of the patterns on this website. Or, if you live nearby, do please book for one of my classes. You can find an up-to-date list of my teaching schedule on the beading classes page.
