Over ten years ago, I was given a brilliant bead travel case. It is still going strong! But when I went to try and buy another one (because you can never have too much bead storage!), I found it’s no longer available.

Well, not to be deterred, I decided to make my own. So, these instructions will show you exactly how I did it.

What is so good about this bead travel case?

Well, it’s easy to make and will cost you just a few £s.

It is convenient and secure to carry around. When folded up, the case measures about 6″ square, so you can pop it in a handbag.

It will store everything you need for a beading project. So, this includes needles, tools, beads, little beading trays and more!

In short, it does everything a good bead travel case should. So, if you want to know more about what makes a good bead travel case, then check out this blog >>

What materials will you need?

Well, I didn’t want to spend much on this. So, I used some felt and ribbon from my craft stash.

Then, I used a large beading mat. If you need to get the materials, I have linked to the exact things that I used, in this blog post >>

In addition to that, you will need some sewing thread and basic sewing tools. I used a sewing machine to make my bead travel case, but you could also do this by hand.

Is it difficult?

No! As I mentioned, I used a sewing machine, so I have assumed you would also be able to use one. You will only need the basic running stitch. So, no complicated moves or difficult sewing terms!

I have illustrated the instructions with lots of photos to show what I did, as well as talking you through the steps. So, in fact, this project only has six steps.

It took me less than an hour to make my bead travel case. So, now I know it’s so easy to do, I might make myself some more…

Oh, and if you need some great beading projects to take on the move with you, then check these ideas out now >>

  1. What a super useful idea for beading and taking jewelry projects on to go. The directions were easy to follow and did not take long to sew. Excellent price too.
