About Chilli Beads Patterns for Floral Pendant

As soon as I saw the Chilli beads I thought of flowers. If you are not already familiar with these beads, they are almost teardrop in shape. They have two holes and a stylised shape with an indented front and rounded back. You can read more about them here.

I have now created several Chilli beads patterns, but this was the first. I started by exploring the floral idea. However, I quickly discovered that the hole structure didn’t allow the ‘petals’ to sit quite as I expected. So, I ended up with a design that is very dimensional. The floral chilli beads patterns are slightly raised up from the surrounding circle. This makes the design is fascinating to bead.

You will be using Superduos to create the dimension for this project. The surrounding circular section combines seed beads with pearls in two sizes. You will work in a combination of netting and peyote stitch – both techniques in their basic forms. I hung my pendant on a simple herringbone spiral tube that pulled out the colouring from the pendant and was finished with end caps and clasp. Any kind of rope or chain is suitable for this design. So use whatever you enjoy making, or perhaps something you already have in your stash.

I mentioned that this is just one of a number of chilli beads patterns. You can find links to more patterns in this blog post. As you will see, the Chilli beads are very versatile, so you can create a lot of different jewellery with them…enjoy!
