Shaped Seed Beads

How many shaped seed beads do you have in your stash? Do you need a new pattern to use some up? Do you even know what I mean by shaped seed beads? Here’s the place to answer all those questions!

Shaped seed beads defined

There are lots of ways in which you could define these beads. For my purposes, here, in sorting patterns, I am using a specific definition. These are all the ‘seed beads’ that have a shape, but only have one hole through them.

So, think dagger beads, rizos, mushroom beads, Magatamas… Is your head spinning already? Yes, in recent years, bead manufacturers have been competing hard to come up with new innovations. So, they have been inventing (or revisiting) shapes that go beyond the simple round seed bead. They have played around with hole placement and with the number of holes. All this leads to a lot of fun for designers. And potentially, a lot of confusion for beaders.

So, if you bead stash has acquired some strange shaped seed beads, with a single hole, here is the place to look for a pattern. If your shaped seed beads contain more than one hole, then I have separate categories for those. So, check them out too!
