My World of Beads: Focus on Making Jewellery
Making jewellery, or the desire to make jewellery, is what starts a lot of people on their journeys of beading discovery. Since the start of 2014, I have been working on another website: My World of Beads. I began work on this as I found myself repeatedly being asked about tools, beads, techniques, my design process, how to sell work, and many other things as I was teaching classes. I vividly remembered the days when I started out and had no idea about any of the tools or materials I found in bead shops. So My World of Beads presents my knowledge, recommendations for suppliers, bead shows, magazines and other resources, all in one single site.
I know that not everyone has access to the internet, or likes using the internet whilst they are actually making jewellery, so I thought it would be a great idea to turn some of the resources on this website into a series of booklets. This particular title gives a great reference point for starting out on your own making jewellery journey.
You will find articles that cover the basic techniques you will need to know for making jewellery. I also take a look at some of the tools and materials that you might find useful. There is an article about selling your work at craft fairs. All of this material is included on the website and is elaborated on there. However, this booklet also gives you four projects to start your own jewellery making. Three of these projects are not available anywhere else, the fourth is my wire wrapped bead bracelet. The projects range in difficulty level, so you can start simple and work up to a more advanced project.
If you happen to take a class with me in person, I will have copies of my Focus on Jewellery Making booklet with me. You can buy a copy here – there are more details below, including a preview of a few sample pages. You can link from there to place an order direct with the printer…just follow the shopping cart icon below the book preview. Or, of course, you can buy direct from me by clicking on the ‘Add to Cart’ button, while stocks are available. If this product is showing out of stock, you will still be able to buy a copy direct from the printer.
