I sell Silky beads in packs of 40. Please choose the colour you want from the drop-down menu above. Currently I have a limited range of colours, but I do hope to increase this. So, if you would like to get a particular colour, please let me know.

You can place these beads on back order if they are out of stock. If you do this, I will automatically email you to let you know when I expect new stock to arrive. I know sometimes you might be working to a deadline. So, if this is the case, just contact me to check whether my stocks will arrive in time for you.

Free Samples

We have all come across that same problem. You see a bead colour on your screen and think it looks great. So, you order the beads. Then, your pack arrives and the colour is totally different from what you were expecting. You even wonder if the shop just packed the wrong beads by accident…!

The fact is, between camera settings, lighting and different computer screens, it is very hard to convey the true colour of beads in an online setting. So, if you are trying to colour match and you’re not sure what will work, you can order a sample.

I will send you 1 Silky Bead (enough to check the colour). Your sample also includes a discount code. So, if you come back here and buy some beads from me, use the discount code, then the cost of your free sample will be refunded against your order.

Terms and Conditions

You can redeem your coupon against any beads, so it does not have to be the same as your sample. For example, if you ordered a sample of pearls, but decided they weren’t right. You could still come back and redeem your sample coupon as you buy some seed beads.

The coupon has no expiry date, but you can only use it once. If you have multiple coupons, you can use them all, but you must add each coupon code separately in your basket.

Coupons cannot be used to get a refund against a pattern or kit.

What are Silky Beads?

If you have never used Silky beads before, then you’re in for a treat. These little beauties measure about 6mm along each side. As you can see from the photos, they have two holes through them. They will also tessellate beautifully. So, you can create lovely textured designs.

You may also have noticed that they have a front and a back. So, the back is flat and smooth, while the front has a little raised embellishment. This gives a lovely texture to your work.

You can read more about Silky beads here in this blog. I just want to share some pattern ideas and tips with you here.

Pattern Inspiration

I am just starting on my Silky beads exploration. So, I have a few patterns that I link to below – just keep scrolling to the bottom of the page!

However, I have lots more planned. So, I’m not going to have room to share them all with you on this page.

Don’t despair, though…I have set up a tag that will bring up all my Silky bead projects in one place. So, you can browse through that here. I will keep adding more, so remember to check back regularly.

Top Tips for using Silky beads

I have just two tips for you when it comes to Silky beads.

The first is to remember to check that both holes are free before you use the bead. There is nothing more frustrating than finding a blocked hole in a bead that you have already added! Of course, I do encourage you to carefully try and clear any blockages. However, do take care that you don’t break the bead! Sometimes you just have to accept that some beads need discarding.

My second tip is to take care as you add the beads. I mentioned that silky beads have a front and a back. So, with the two holes, you need to make sure that you are passing through the bead in the right direction to make it sit the right way around. The easiest way to do this is to lay your beads out right-side up on your beading mat. Then, when you come to pick up the bead, you know you are going the right way.
