Let’s face it, times are hard. So, if I told you I could show you how to save money beading what you love, would you read on?

Well, I’m going to show you the two simple steps to take. They’re very practical and you can start saving money right now. If you want to know more, by all means, read the full blog post. Otherwise, the next couple of paragraphs are all you need!

Save Money Beading: step 1

Buy a beading pattern from me. I will send you the pattern and a receipt containing a discount code. In step 2, you’re going to use that to get a discount on your beads.

You may even find some of my beading patterns on sale. So, that will help you save a bit more money right away.

Save Money Beading: step 2

Open your new beading pattern (or print it out).

Check the list of materials on the front of the pattern. How many of these do you have in your stash? If you have lots, then you’ve saved money already!

If you need to buy materials, then come back to my beading supplies. Pick up what you need and use the discount coupon on your receipt.

That’s it! You just got money off the supplies you need to buy. Plus it’s an easy process. So, I’ve just saved you some time as well!

More ways to save money beading

If you’ve got a bit more time to relax and read, then I want to share the thinking behind those two steps. Plus, I’ll give you a another tip to save money beading with what you already have.

The idea behind this blog

I’ve been spending a lot of time adding beads, thread, wire and so on to this website. Why did I decide to do this? Well, someone asked me!

One of you pointed out that it would make life easier for you. So, this website is growing into my one-stop-shop where you can buy the pattern and the materials to make it.Gingerbread House Beaded Box by Katie Dean

As you might imagine, it’s taking me a while to list all the materials. So, if you can’t find what you’re looking for, email me and I probably have it in stock. Or, wait and watch as the beading supplies section grows!

Anyway, as I was doing this, I got to thinking about kits as well. Why do you choose to buy a kit? Mostly because it makes life simple. You know you will have everything you need to just get on with the project. And, let’s face it, us beaders are an impatient bunch…we like to bead NOW!

However, there is one big problem with beading kits… They can mean you end up spending more money than you need to.

Why Buying a kit is more expensive

Silky Bead Tutorial: Silky Bead BraceletThere are two reasons why you end up paying more for beading kits. Firstly, you probably already have thread and some beads in your stash. These things are included in your kit and you’re paying for them. So, you’re paying unnecessarily for something you already have!

Secondly, you know it takes time to choose beads and put them all together. So, you’re paying for someone else to do this for you!

Why I’ve just saved you money

So, if you’re planning on following the two steps I outlined above, you’re going to end up saving money.

Firstly, you get the money off your beads.

Secondly, you’re not paying for someone to put a kit together for you – you’re doing it yourself.

Thirdly, you only need to pay for the items that you actually need.

Fourthly, you get to choose exactly what you want. So you don’t need to be restricted by colour combinations.

So, if you’ve followed this logic, what are you waiting for?

Another Top Money Saving Tip

Now, picture this scenario. It’s the middle of the month and payday seems a long way off. But, the weekend is here and you’re itching to do some beading.

You’ve been leafing through the patterns and projects you have, but they all seem a little stale. So, you need something new. Then you think about those pennies. Will they stretch to a new project? I mean it’s never just the pattern is it – you always find you don’t have enough beads. So ‘just one pattern’ turns into a whole big beading shop. And can you justify it?

Well, how about this for an idea?… You see, I thought this one through too!

Once you’ve decided you need a new pattern, follow these simple steps.

  1. Look through your bead stash and pick some beads that you want to work with
  2. Pop back over here and look at the menu on the right hand side of the page (if you’re using a phone, this will be at the bottom of your screen, so keep scrolling in a minute…but read steps 3 and 4 first!)
  3. See that collection of words under the title ‘Find projects using…’? Well, that lists the beads for which I have patterns. So click on the type of bead you’ve picked
  4. You can then browse all the patterns that use those beads. Select something and you know you’re going to be using beads from your stash instead of having to invest in loads of new beads

There is another way!

French beaded fuchsiaOf course, if you actually want to buy some new beads (let’s face it, it’s really good fun!), then go back to the top of this post. Now follow my two steps and you can save money beading a project that you love.
