Dome Beads Flower

This pattern uses Dome beads to make two different types of flower.

I developed the pattern as soon as I received my first Dome beads – I just couldn’t wait to play with them! The first variation I made is the all purple version you can see in the photo.

I really liked it, but I felt like it might benefit from some longer petals around the central section. I had recently been playing a little with dagger beads. So I immediately saw that I could use these to achieve the effect I was imagining. I have included both variations in the pattern instructions. So you can try whichever you like.

Techniques

This project is written with the assumption that you already know how to stitch even count peyote.

It’s a basic stitch. So if you want to make this project, but are not familiar with peyote, you can find a free even count Peyote tutorial here. Beyond that, the project uses a little bit of basic netting.

The only thing you may find tricky is handling the beads. If you are not terribly experienced, you may not have worked with very tiny beads before. To make a Dome beads flower, you will be working with size 11 and size 15 seed beads, as well as Superduos. If you haven’t used Superduos before, then this is a very gentle way to get used to these two-holed beads.

You can experiment with colour. As you can see in the photo, the first of my Dome beads flowers used a single colour, but in different shades. For the second flower, I added petals in a completely contrasting colour. So you can have a lot of fun trying different variations.

This Dome beads flower pattern is sold on the understanding that it is for your personal use. This means you can make the flowers to use yourself or to give to friends. But you may not copy and share the pattern with other people. If you wish to make the flowers for any other use, you should email me first to obtain my permission – thank you!
