Make a cute little beaded Christmas jumper to decorate your Christmas tree. The pattern includes six different designs. Plus blank graph paper for you to design your own.

Materials

You simply need seed beads for this project. So, you can choose which size you want to use.

Size 11 seed beads make a jumper that is about 2″ (5cm) high.

If you feel like going really small, then use size 15 seed beads to make a cute pair of Festive earrings.

You probably have the beads in your stash already. So, this is a great project for using up some odds and ends.

Techniques and Experience

This little beaded Christmas jumper pattern uses odd count Peyote stitch and basic brick stitch. I have assumed you are familiar with both techniques. But if that is not the case, you can find free tutorials to help.

Get the odd count Peyote tutorial here.

Then, look out for the basic brick stitch and also the brick stitch shaping tutorials. You will find them both in the same section on this website.

As long as you feel comfortable with these techniques, or you’re happy to learn, this is a great project. So, you don’t need much previous experience to complete this.

About the Beaded Christmas Jumper Design

I think Christmas jumpers may be one of those peculiarly British traditions. Personally, I have never owned one. But if you have ever seen the film, ‘Bridget Jones’ Diary’, you may remember the famous annual Christmas party in which both Bridget and Mark Darcy are dressed in their Christmas jumpers.

So, it suddenly occurred to me that a beaded Christmas jumper might look really cute. Or, more precisely, several beaded Christmas jumpers to decorate my Christmas tree.

Well, it turns out that not only do they look cute, they are also rather fun to design and make. So, I have included six different designs in this pattern:

  • Rudolf
  • Father Christmas
  • Snowman
  • Gingerbread Man
  • Snowflakes
  • Christmas Tree

I did a bit of research. So, these are all common Christmas jumper themes. You can mix and match your colouring. I have also included some blank patterns, so you can design your own. The Christmas cracker or Mistletoe are two other common designs. Perhaps you can create one of them?

Do have fun with this and let me know what you come up with!

NEW: six more designs available here in the beaded Christmas sweater pattern.
