Bead Graffiti is a name I have given to this style of beadwork that I developed and used for various projects. It incorporates words stitched into a flat panel and then decorated with a freeform embellishment. I have used this to make a door hanger, pendant and ring. The Bead Graffiti idea can be used for a lot more projects besides.

About The Bead Graffiti Pattern

In this pattern you will learn how to add lettering to a Peyote stitch panel. I will then be giving you a technique for adding freeform embellishment. The pattern includes inspiration from the projects I have completed using the Bead Graffiti idea. This project is suitable for all levels. If you are still learning how to master Peyote stitch, then you can find some useful free tutorials to use alongside this pattern. I have a tutorial for even count Peyote, or odd count Peyote. You may also like the tutorial showing you how to read a pattern. Finally, I have a Peyote alphabet you can download.

Bead Graffiti is a great way of using up odds and ends from your beading stash. Depending on the size of your project, you may be able to use up small quantities of leftover seed beads. You will also be able to use other bead odds and ends. So, these could be crystals, round beads, pearls, slightly larger beads, or the kind of beads that often come in bead soup packs. You can basically use your discretion. You can also focus on choosing a colour scheme. Therefore, you might like to use up odds and ends from a particular colour range. Alternatively, you could go for a bright multi-colour scheme. In this case, the more colours you use, the better. This is the sort of project that is just fun to do. There is no ‘right’ or ‘wrong’, so just let your artistic side out!
