These RounTrio beaded beads are a bit of a brain-teaser. I have used the three-hole structure of the RounTrio beads to create an intricate embellishment. Yet, the thread paths you use are actually very simple!

Materials

The RounTrio beaded beads each use a few of each of these bead types:

  • RounTrios
  • Miyuki size 11 seed beads
  • True2 beads
  • Optional: 10mm pearl

I sell all these beads right here in my beading supplies. Plus, you can also find thread there if you need it.

The beaded beads need a good tension and strong thread. For me, Fireline works well. But I know every beader has their own preferred thread. So, just use the type that will give you the best tension.

Experience and Techniques

The RounTrio beaded beads are not for the faint-hearted! Although the thread paths are simple, you will need to have a good understanding of the structure of your bead. So, if you are someone that struggles with three-dimensions, this may not be the best project for you.

The beaded bead is built around a single unit of CRAW. So, previous experience of that technique may be helpful. But I do also have a free tutorial you can download if you need some extra help. The single unit is fairly easy to construct – it is usually subsequent units that confuse people when it comes to CRAW!

About the RounTrio Beaded Beads

RounTrio beads were developed by the Potomac bead company. They are basically a round bead with three holes through it. So, the bead itself looks a little like a pearl. But the three-hole structure means you can create fabulous designs with it.

I have used these beads in a few projects, so have included links to those below.

Now, for the RounTrio beaded beads, I wanted to use the three-hole structure to add an intricate embellishment. This is actually fun to do. Once you get into the rhythm of adding the seed beads, the technique is relaxing.

I love the variety of colours available. So, you can have a lot of fun creating and trying different colour combinations. If you need a little help with colouring, try this blog series>>

The pattern shows you how to create a solid bead or an open bead. Also, how to add a bail if you want to just use a single bead as a pendant. The beaded beads measure about 2″ (5cm) in size.
