These cute netted fish beaded beads can be strung on any kind of jewellery. They are quick to make and great for stash-busting!

Materials

You will need:

  • Size 11 Miyuki seed beads
  • 10mm round bead
  • Your choice of beading thread

I like to give the brand of seed beads that I have used because of sizing for this project. If you know something about seed beads, you will know that different brands differ slightly in size. (And if you don’t know that, then you can find out more here.)

However, this project should work with other brands of seed bead. So, if you have some odds and ends to use up, why not give it a try?

Experience and Techniques

You probably won’t be surprised to learn that the netted fish beaded beads are made using Netting techniques. I happen to think that Netting is one of the easiest techniques to learn. So, I recommend this pattern, whatever your level of experience.

I have included lots of clear coloured diagrams and photos alongside the written step-by-step instructions. So, you should have no problem in following along.

If you are already an experienced beader, then this is just a fun, quick project.

More about the Netted Fish

These little beaded beads were a bit of an accidental design. I was practising my Netting skills and creating some covered wooden beads for another project.

From there, I started adding a little tubular netting from the base of my beaded bead and guess what? …I looked at my little part-made structure and thought it looked a lot like a fish! Finally, it took just a couple of minutes to add some fins and eyes and so my netted fish were born!

They are great strung together to make a fun bracelet or necklace. You can use some 4mm beads to space them out. Maybe you string them on memory wire. Or maybe try something like Tiger Tail. Then, if you need some help with adding a clasp, check out this free tutorial.
