About the Sweet Dreams Necklace Kit
I designed the Sweet Dreams necklace when I was experimenting with different designs for sweets. I made this particular creation from beaded beads designed to look like wrapped sweets.
The Sweet Dreams necklace measures about 16″. Although you can easily alter the length if you wish. The kit contains size 11 seed beads, 10mm wooden beads, thread, spacer beads and a clasp. The instructions, included with the kit, are comprehensive and include diagrams and photos to help with the project.
A note on colouring
I have given you a choice of colours in the drop-down menu. The main image shows the ‘red’ variation. This contains beads in crystal and two shades of red.
So, the blue variation contains beads in crystal and two shades of blue. The yellow variation has beads in crystal and two shades of green.
Now, the multi-colour variation contains beads in crystal, red, yellow, green and blue. In each variation, the coloured beads are in silver lined and transparent shades. I felt these best mimic real sweet wrappers. So, you may notice, in the red variation, one of the shades appears more pink. This is just an effect of the light and thread on the bead colouring.
Techniques and Experience
You are going to be working in Peyote stitch. So, if you feel you need a bit more help with this technique, you can also find a free tutorial to download in the free tutorials department. You need the tubular and circular Peyote tutorial.
The Sweet Dreams necklace incorporates some different patterns on your sweets. You can create all of these very easily. I suggest that this project is best suited to someone with a bit of experience. However, having said that, if you are an ambitious beginner, you can certainly give this kit a try.
You can make single sweets when you have a bit of time. Then you will assemble the necklace at the end. So, if your beading time is limited, just make this project in stages.
And finally, I have made a lot of designs based around sweets themes. So, if you are interested in more, I have a lot of different kits and patterns on this website. You might like the Sweet Delights bracelet pattern. Or, perhaps you prefer a coconut ice project. I can also offer you some liquorice allsorts.
