Adding Clasps to Beaded Jewellery

This free guide looks at some different ways of adding clasps to beaded jewellery. It shows you how to create a professional finish. The techniques and materials you have used to make the beaded jewellery will determine how best to add a clasp.

This tutorial looks at French wire, crimps and calottes. All these are suitable for different types of jewellery. If you want to know more about how to choose the best clasp for your project, or how to bead your own clasp, then you may be interested in my book, ‘Beaded Clasps‘.

This tutorial is aimed at beginner level. However, it also provides a useful reminder for those with more experience. The different ways of adding clasps to beaded jewellery are described and illustrated with step-by-step photos.

As with many jewellery-making techniques, the different techniques for adding clasps are not difficult. However, they can be a little tricky. I would recommend practicing on scrap pieces of work until you feel confident with the techniques. Then you can try them on jewellery to sell or wear for a special occasion.
