Kheops Beads Focal Necklace

I designed this necklace as an experiment in working with Kheops beads. I didn’t want to invest in a large number of packs of beads, so I created a design that uses just a single tube of Kheops beads. As with a lot of the other new shaped beads emerging onto the market at the moment, it is fascinating to work with the triangular shape. The challenge lies in working out how to combine them with other beads to create texture and interest. In this design I mixed in O Beads and Superduos, to give the impression of complexity, but in fact the thread path is very simple. Each element of the focal section is made separately and joined together. It has a slightly three-dimensional feel and there is scope for re-arranging the individual components into a different pattern.

The necklace itself is simply two strings of 6mm beads. It is always challenging to get multiple strands of beads to sit correctly. So this pattern will give you all the hints you need in order to achieve the correct effect. The necklace design is finished with a beaded clasp made in Peyote Stitch. If you need any help with the basics, like using crimp beads, or working in Peyote, then you can find some free tutorials to download from this website.

If you have never used Kheops beads before, this necklace pattern starts with an introduction to the beads and includes tips and tricks for using them easily. Kheops beads are available in a wide range of colours, so you can really mix up the colouring on this design. If you already have some half-used tubes of Kheops beads, then you might like to mix them and created a multi-coloured focal area. I also have several other patterns using Kheops beads on this site, so if you enjoy this design you can try plenty of others too!
